Language Learning Center App Reviews

14 Customer Reviews:

This app is very user-friendly and would certainly make mastery of a foreign language much simpler than the old-fashioned way of memorizing long lists of vocabulary and grammar rules. However, it has a fatal bug: your completed lessons dont get saved when you stop working, so when you come back to it later, you find yourself right back at Lesson One, Part One again. The app is based on the idea of learning a language through immersion rather than by learning to translate from one language to another. There are no grammar rules to memorize, no vocabulary lists, no conjugation tables -- and the "match the word to the picture" approach makes it easy to master the vocabulary and grammar without even realizing it. One feature that is missing is a spoken component. The modules focus on listening and writing skills only. I would like to see speaking skills added to the modules … after all, the reason I wanted to learn more languages in the first place was so that I could learn to SPEAK them. To be fair, since this is version 1.0.1, the app is no doubt a work in progress. Hopefully the developers will get these issues fixed in the next update. Until then, however, the bugs and the lack of a spoken element prevents me from giving this app the high rating it would otherwise deserve.

There arent any instructions, just pictures with the french written underneath and 2 people saying the words. Unfortunately they don’t put in the english translation so if you’re not sure what they are referring to in the picture you can’t learn it. For instance “Un singe” is under the picture of some sort of monkey or baboon, but it doesn’t say which it is. Not being that familiar with the hundreds of species of primates by sight, I had to get the translation on google to know that I was learning the word for monkey. I know enough French to know that they are referring to a male monkey, but people without any french at all wouldn’t understand the difference between “un” and “une”. The word for a picture of a guy leaning on a car is “Il est debout”, so are they referring to the the guy, the car or what? After looking it up on google the translation is "He’s standing". But how would you know that it means “he’s standing” or “he stands” or “he’s leaning” or “he loves his car”?

15 different languages to choose! Before you download the full course you can see whats it all about. The difficulty is good for the beginners. Ive tried to learn French and German and found it super effective. Writing part is a bit hard. It takes you more time to complete the tasks. I had some issues with accents under the letters but support team explained me what I had done wrong. Like this way of leaning: everythings simple&fun.

The description stated this included Polish (and I would like hindi as well), however I have not found polish anywhere in this system. Where are all the languages it stated it had?

After finally getting a response, I was was told to try File>Restore purchases. It was too good to be true. After TWO HOURS (and thats just the first try), nothing had happened. I reported this to the same person who gave me the initial instructions. No reply. I have also requested a refund- even then I dont know if I will repurchase the app. If I do, I definitely will not install any more updates.

I was interested in Spanish. The description fails to say if it is Spanish from Spain or Mexico or another Spanish-speaking country. Hope you know your flags! Most people in the U.S. will likely want the Mexican dialect. The flag represents Spain. So which is it? Does this happen with other languages as well?

This is a horrible way to learn a language for the very reason that you have no idea what youre actually saying. This app will show you a picture of a teenage boy standing in front of his car on a sunny day and will say "tah-tsu" in the voice of a man and a woman (if you want to learn japanese.) What are you referring to? The car? His clothing? The fact that hes a teenager? The fact that hes standing? Or the weather? Its a horrible app and I would not reccomend it to ANYONE.

you have to first go through the whole program in english just to have a reference of what they are trying to teach you in the other language. Making more effort where there shouldnt be.

Please, Elky Intertainment, hear me out, I got this to supplement my laguage course in Arabic but I don’t know exactly what is being said by each picture. Could you put the English definition of the pictures on the cards as well as (what is called in Chinese, pin yin) letter names and sounds? This would be so incredibly helpful!!! I just simply have no idea what I am saying when I practice these words :( Thank you, this app has so much potential, Robyn

The words do not come with it’s tralsnation, which isn’t that much of a problem for me personally, but I can see how it will be bothersome for most. For me the bigger problem is that the sentence isn’t written in a common way. I speak some of the languages they offer already quite fluently and I wanted to look at the way it worked. Some of the languages, its not bad, but with some languaes, although the word can technically be correct, but no one talks like that. I don’t think it’s horrible, but really, I highly suggest not to rely on this program alone.

i purchased the full version and for some unknown reason, it’s reverted back to the demo with an option to purchase the full version again. it also doesn’t provide translations. pictures are worth a thousands words (or guesses). the guessing (or having to translate everything on your own) slows down the learning process. the restore purchase option under the file tap fixes the odd thing of the app reverting back to the demo after purchase. hurray.
